About Us

Strawberry Safari a small, but perfectly formed glamping site in between Ripon and Harrogate in the stunning North Yorkshire countryside.

Originally forming part of the Ripon to Harrogate railway line, the site has been brought back to life as a rural retreat focused on relaxation, home grown produce and healthy living.

Guests can stay in one of our 3 beautiful shepherds huts, set in acres of open space, pick fruit from the array of trees and plants or join a fitness class to blow away the cobwebs. Walk the grounds, curl up with a good book……..its your choice.

Your hosts

Claire and Andy are your hosts and are delighted to help with any requests to make your stay even more perfect.

Claire is a hotelier at heart, with lots of experience running luxury hotels and resorts. She currently operates a leisure and tourism portfolio for a country estate nearby, as well as providing advice and support for other hospitality businesses.

“As a couple, we love staying in unusual properties and do not believe that glamping means any compromise on quality. Our huts offer an unconventional experience but with all the luxury and style of a 5 star hotel”.

Andy is a REPS registered, level 4 qualified personal trainer and supports clients to make sustainable changes to their lifestyle patterns to improve fitness and increase their overall health. Andy runs classes onsite and can offer expert advice on nutrition and physical well being.

Activities

Yoga classes can be arranged with prior notice and are held in the beautiful outdoors.

The grounds are a delight for nature lovers, creative minds and those seeking some stillness away from the stress of everyday life.

Wellbeing retreats are available on request and can be tailored to your specific requirements.

Nearby

Our huts are brilliantly situated in between Ripon and Harrogate. There is a fantastic bus service running from a stop just outside the gate and connecting these two great towns.

Harrogate is a beautiful spa town with great attractions including RHS Harlow Carr, Bettys Tearooms and the Yorkshire Showground.

Ripon is a historic market town with attractions including the wonderful Cathedral and Fountains Abbey.

5 minutes drive away is Ripley Castle and the idyllic Ripley Village including ice cream parlour, The Boar’s Head pub and even a Gin school!

Eat and Drink

There are some lovely places to eat out during your stay. From your hut, it is a short walk to The George, a carvery restaurant at Wormald Green or by a slightly longer walk (15 mins or so) is The Inn at South Stainley, with good food and lots of outdoor seating.

If you don’t mid a drive or to jump on the bus, The Boar’s Head at Ripley is a great country pub and Harrogate and Ripon are both full of fantastic, varied restaurants.

Your hut

Each Shepherds hut is named after a variety of strawberry, growing in the Strawberry Safari poly-tunnel.

Elsanta, the first shepherds hut was handmade locally to our own design and offers a cosy kitchen and living space, with a private en-suite shower room within the hut.

Florence is a slightly larger hut, with all of the same amenities, including a full size double bed.

Sonata is a new addition, with a slightly different layout to the other huts and the luxury of under floor heating.

The huts are well separated, allowing complete privacy for our guests.

The huts are beautifully finished with luxurious textiles, each providing a stunning colour scheme for your accommodation. Special touches include Le Creuset kitchenware and soft woollen Tweedmill blankets.

Our WoolRoom linen is all made from organic cotton and our duvets and pillows are 100% natural wool, offering a luxurious nights sleep with the Allergy UK seal of approval.
